On the shores of a northern sea, in southern Finland, there is a place where the stars have always shone more brightly than anywhere else. When Sweden started to fortify its eastern border against Russia hundreds of years ago, Hamina became a fortress town. The fortress town was built according to a circular town plan, and it obtained the name Fredrikshamn, in Finnish Hamina. The name refers to a harbour, a place where you can arrive in, something where you can become fixed for a while or a longer period of time.
